About
Hi, I'm Emily Pederson, a photographer, filmmaker, and photo editor from Rhode Island. My work focuses on human rights, social movements, and the aftermath of violence. I believe in using documentary work to contribute to collective memory, most of all for the communities the work is about.
After studying Photography and Human Rights at New York University, I moved to Mexico for three years, where I covered internal displacement and the impact of the Drug War on Mexican society. Now back in New York, I've gone into photo editing and visual production and continue working on documentary projects. I also do Spanish-English translation for documentaries, texts and events.
My work has been featured by Field of Vision, The New York Times, The Atlantic, and Open Society Foundations, among others.
